My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry

Book Jacket for: My grandmother asked me to tell you she's sorry : a novelFredrik Backman is a Swedish writer with a talent for domestic stories featuring flawed, eccentric, yet understandable characters.  My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry is one of these.  Here we have Elsa, her parents and their partners, the other dwellers in her apartment building, her grandmother, and a wurse.  Her grandmother was a woman ahead of her time and Elsa is “different” so the grandmother, upon her death, sets Elsa up with a quest.  It is in the course of this quest that we the readers are exposed to the fuller stories of all the people in Elsa’s life.

The book is a rewarding read that I would highly recommend.
