Arroyo Book Club June Pick…

The Arroyo Book Club’s June book is The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben.  In The Hidden Life of Trees “a forester's fascinating stories, supported by the latest scientific research, reveal the extraordinary world of forests and illustrate how trees communicate and care for each other.”

There are plenty of paper copies of this book so you can place a hold and have it sent to the branch that is convenient for you if you’d like.  The book is also available on Hoopla so if you prefer an ebook that option is available to you.

We will meet, via Zoom, to discuss the book on June 25 at 3:00.  Email ayosco@lapl.org if you’d like to attend so we can get you the link.

Bi-weekly Trivia Question (Answer)….

Brief Cases

Brief Cases by Jim Butcher is a collection of short stories featuring characters from his Harry Dresden series.  The stories focus on episodes that happen around the edges of the series novels.  They provide a bit of back ground filler and flesh out (give the narrative role to) some of the side characters.  As always Butcher provides interesting plot and intriguing characters, whether it’s Big Foot’s son or the coroner turned Knight of the Sword.

I would recommend this book to anyone.  I think the stories work even if you’re not already familiar with the Dresden world, though, as a big fan of Butcher’s Dresden series, I would recommend you work your way through that series too.
