February’s Arroyo Book Club Book…
February is African-American Heritage Month at the library. This has given the Arroyo Book Club impetus to select Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass as the title for their February meeting. In this book, published before the Civil War, Douglass tells of his childhood and experiences as a slave as well as providing “a harrowing record of his dramatic escape to the North and eventual freedom.” The book is “admired today for its extraordinary passion, sensitive descriptions, and storytelling power.”
