The Arroyo Book Club will be reading A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles for our March meeting. This novel tells the tale of Count Alexander Rostov. The book’s summary tell us:
“When, in 1922, Rostov is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, the count is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel's doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him a doorway into a much larger world of emotional discovery.”
Stop by the branch to pick up a paper copy to read. If you prefer ebooks you’ll find it in Overdrive/Libby
We will meet to discuss the book on March 26 at 3:00 via Zoom. Email ayosco@lapl.org if you’d like to receive the meeting link.
