China Miéville...

What are your thoughts about this author?  I’ll confess that his books always sound interesting, so much so that I think I’ve started every one I’ve ever heard about, but I can never seem to finish them once I start.  So for me he has very intriguing ideas but is unable to retain my interest.  Are there any fans out there who do get through his books?  What are your thoughts about him?
