This year’s Summer Reading Challenge theme is “My LA.” In line with that the book club decided it would be fun to read a book that centered Los Angeles in some way for our June & July meetings. The book Dear Los Angeles edited by David Kipen was the run-away winner of our selection poll so it will be our June book.
Dear Los Angeles is an anthology of writing about Los Angeles as found in the diaries & letters of many people from Marilyn Monroe, Cesar Chavez, Susan Sontag, to Albert Einstein, and beyond.

We will be using group generated questions for this discussion so read with paper and pen in hand and note down points for discussion, excerpts you found particularly meaningful, themes you notice, basically anything that will help you formulate 1 or 2 questions to raise with the group for discussion. Bring those questions to our meeting and be prepared to be called upon to ask.
We will have copies of the book available at the branch in the place where such books are usually put, just ask a staff member if you can't find them.
We will meet to discuss the book on Saturday, June 24 at 3:00. If you're interested in attending via Zoom be sure to email us at ayosco@lapl.org so we can add you to the link list.
