Bi-weekly Trivia Question (Answer)….


 

This time the question was what endangered California mammal is among the smallest that hibernate? The answer… the Pacific Pocket Mouse.  There are three historic localities for the subspecies in Los Angeles County—Marina del Rey/El Segundo, Wilmington, and Clifton—but there are no records of the Pacific pocket mice in the county since 1938. It apparently still survives in Dana Point and the Camp Pendleton areas (at least as of the late 90s).
