The 5/30/74 article, "City in touch with benefactors: Flagpole memorial," provides a recount of the installation of the large Veterans’ Memorial Flag post on the corner of York and Figueroa. Included I was pleased to learn, was the information that the large pine tree living where the pole is now was transplanted to Garvanza Park.
