A website to look at when you’re looking into how the schools in your neighborhood are doing is the Ed-Data site (http://www.ed-data.org/).  This site allows you to examine the demographics of a specific California school as well as the performance.  It also allows you to compare schools or districts, though the interface for doing so takes a little work for understanding. It will let you export your results so you can use this tool when preparing your own report.
