February is a non-fiction month for the Arroyo Book Club. The book we will be reading is One Summer by Bill Bryson. Bryson is an author I’ve long admired for his travel writing but this is no travel book. In this book Bryson captures 1927’s “outsized personalities, exciting events, and occasional just plain weirdness with his trademark vividness, eye for telling detail, and delicious humor. In that year America stepped out onto the world stage as the main event, and One Summer transforms it all into narrative nonfiction of the highest order.”
As always I’ll have copies available for you to check out on the window shelf by the Circulation Desk (or just ask one of our employees). There are a few e-copies available. Find them on Overdrive here.
We will meet to discuss the book on February 25 at 3:00. This will be a hybrid meeting so you are welcome to join us in person or via Zoom. If you’d like to join us via Zoom send an email to ayosco@lapl.org so we can get you the link.
