Witchmark

In Witchmark C.L. Polk gives us an imaginative tale of a land reminiscent of Edwardian England but only vaguely.  Our hero is Miles Singer a doctor returned from war who is busy treating the mentally war torn.  Miles has magic which he must keep hidden lest he be sent to an asylum or enslaved for his power.  Using his magic he notices that many of the veterans have a miasma.  A man dies in his arms after asking for his help and Miles is on the road to trying to figure out both mysteries with lots of larger consequences.

I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to those who like fantasy with an element of mystery mixed in.
