TOW (& Answer)....

Book Jacket for: Historic spots in California. This week’s question was what was a previous name for Ballast Point? - - -  with bonus points for saying where it was located?

Ballast Point was called La Punta de Guijarros and was the probable landing place of Cabrillo in 1542.  It was named by Vizcaino in 1602.  Ballast Point was a nineteenth century appellation probably refelecting the translation of La Punta de Guijarros which means the Point of Cobblestones.  Located in San Diego.

The question (& answer) were found on p. 321 of Historic Spots in California by Douglas E. Kyle.  The book was published in 1990 by Stanford University Press.
