Which notorious 19th century gunfighter was killed during a poker game while holding two eights and two aces, the origin of the term, “dead man’s hand”?  
The answer is James Butler “Wild Bill” Hickok
The question, and answer, were found on pages 124-125 of  The Historical Atlas of American Crime by Fred Rosen.  The book was published by Facts on File in 2005.
