Mango Languages

Looking to learn a foreign language?  The library has a couple of language learning databases available for you to use.  One of these is Mango Languages.  Mango Languages provides the following courses for English speakers:  Arabic (Levantine), Chinese (Cantonese), Chinese (Mandarin), Farsi, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.  It also provides courses in learning English for speakers of the following languages:  Arabic, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, Korean, and Spanish.

When you begin a language course you are offered the option of basic --- which teaches simple practical skills for common polite conversation --- or complete 2.0 --- which teaches in-depth and comprehensive language and grammar skills.

When you first log in you will create a profile and log in with a username so that you can keep track of your progress and pick up where you left off.  There is an available app for iPhone and Android so you can take advantage of down time to learn anywhere.

Find the database on the library’s Research and Homework page (http://www.lapl.org/collections-resources/research-and-homework#M) and give it a try.
