Like Crazy is a memoir by Dan Mathews. Mathews took in his mother once she was no longer able to live independently and looked after her until her death. Both Mathews and his mother are characters and their exuberance fills a book that might seem somewhat depressing. Mathews recounts his mother’s struggles with old age and their discovery that she had been suffering from schizophrenia her whole life while sharing stories of his work for PETA, his friends, and the family he manages to create with his friends and his mother.
