TOW (& Answer)...

Book Jacket for: A new dictionary of eponymsThis week's question was: What is the name of the type of gun that Colonel Custer left behind when he set out for the Battle of Little Big Horn? This gun is also where a common slang term for a gun came from.

The answer is the Gatling gun, named after Richard Jordan Gatling.  The question (and answer) were found on p. 105 of The New Dictionary of Eponyms by Morton Freeman.  The book was published by Oxford University Press in 1997.
