The Hot Zone

The Hot Zone by Richard Preston tells the true tale of an outbreak of Ebola in the suburbs of Washington, D.C.  In the course of relating what actually occurred Preston provides a lot of information about the history of infectious diseases (notably Ebola) & their interaction with mankind. This is a fascinating book that does a wonderful job of scaring its readers.  Check it out.
